Dallas County West Nile Cases Increase

By BJ Austin, KERA News

Dallas, TX –

Dallas County is reporting FOUR human cases of West Nile Virus.

The patient diagnosed most recently lives in the Lakewood area and remains hospitalized. A patient in Carrollton was the third confirmed case. The two others are in Old East Dallas and the North Dallas Zip Code that includes Preston, Hillcrest and Arapaho.

Health authorities say people need to take precautions against mosquitoes, which carry the virus. Use repellant, drain any standing water that could become mosquito breeding grounds, and wear long sleeves and long pants during dawn and dusk hours.
