Dallas, TX – 2010 Census organizers in Dallas are putting out the call for PARTNERS. KERA's BJ Austin says volunteers are needed to get the word out about the importance of counting EVERYONE.

In Dallas, the Mayor's Complete Count Committee is enlisting the help of community and faith-based organizations to help people understand how important it is to be counted. 300 BILLION dollars in federal funding for will be allocated to cities, counties and states based on the 2010 census. Dallas City Council member Pauline Medrano urges neighborhood and labor organizations, churches, and civic organizations to become Census partners.

Medrano: Help us make sure that every person that is included in our diverse population is accounted for and included in the 2010 Census. Everyone is important and should be counted. So, three things: it's easy, it's quick, and its' confidential.

Medrano says the Census information is NOT turned over to law enforcement or immigration.
