Dallas, TX – Dallas County Medical Director Dr. John Carlo is warning health officials in local cities to get ready for a possible swine flu outbreak.
Carlo: It's time to institute precautions for persons in group settings. The important piece is, if you're going to go into a mass gathering, if you're going to be coordinating a mass gathering, you need to tell your participants - Enter at Your Own Risk.
Dr. Carlo says he's not advocating cancellation of events, but says signs should be posted urging people who are ill to stay away, and warning others of the danger of virus transmission.
Dr. Carlo told members of the Dallas County Public Health Advisory Committee that - using the 1918 flu epidemic model -- 700 thousand people in Dallas could get sick in major outbreak.
