Dallas, TX – Unemployment in Texas is up for the fourth straight month. More than 46 thousand "non-farm" jobs were lost in February - raising the unemployment rate to 6.5%, from 6.4 in January.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area has the highest unemployment rate of major Texas cities at 6.9%. Veronica Downey, with the Texas Workforce Commission, says there are two sectors in North Texas that are showing job GROWTH.
Downey: Education and Health Services with 4.8%. That along with government, which showed a 2.5% increase, are two of the sectors that are leading.
The Professional and Business Services sector, along with construction, saw the biggest job losses in Texas in February.
