Dallas, TX – Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Tom Pauken is urging those who lose their jobs to go online to apply for unemployment compensation. As we reported Friday, the number of Texans filing for unemployment has doubled in the past year and his agency's phone lines are often jammed. Pauken tells KERA's Shelley Kofler two major factors drove a dramatic loss of 80-thousand Texas jobs in January- the credit crunch and falling energy prices.
