Dallas, TX – A three-day grand opening party is set to kick off today for the new XTC Cabaret, on Stemmons, near Regal Row. It's billed as the largest ALL NUDE club in Texas. KERA's BJ Austin says that's not exactly a "claim to fame" City Hall wants.
The club is the old Penthouse Key Club, which made headlines a few years ago when the city shut it down for prostitution and crime. This club is in a DRY area, so it's BYOB, bring your own bottle, and with no liquor license restrictions, can feature ALL NUDE dancers on multiple stages. It also has executive skyboxes. Dallas City Councilmember Pauline Medrano says it's all legal but troublesome
Medrano: We've got our medical gateway just south of that area. We've got several bio-medical research buildings going up within two miles from there.
Medrano says there's a new K-12 private school nearby, and she wants to make sure the required thousand foot buffer between the two is in place. The club's owner says the Club will be a tax-generator for the city. Medrano is not that enthusiastic.
