Dallas, TX – Icicles may be hanging from trees and roofs in parts of North Texas, but city and state officials say roads for the most part are not icing up.
The Texas Department of Transportation's Mark Pettit says bridges, overpasses and ramps are at the highest risk of freezing because they are elevated. The ground itself is currently above freezing. Pettit says TxDot trucks have been sanding small parts of 635-LBJ Freeway.
Pettit: West of 75 in the Webb Chapel area, Mother Nature will determine how long we will have those conditions.
Raymond Rivas, a Dallas Emergency Management Specialist, says Dallas streets remain drivable, and things should improve.
Rivas: We're not seeing any major events other than maybe isolated events where just roads are slick in general from being wet. No reports of icy roadways. There's a warming trend. It'll be mid 40s about daybreak tomorrow.
Dallas sand trucks are out if needed. TxDot reports no icy conditions in Fort Worth.
