Dallas – A long-time state senator from North Texas won't be returning to Austin. Republican Kim Brimer lost his seat in the election. KERA's Ed Martelle reports.
It was the nastiest campaign in North Texas, with both sides flinging charges and counter-charges on TV. But in the end, it was a narrow, upset victory for Democrat Wendy Davis over incumbent Republican Kim Brimer. After claiming victory last night, Davis admitted her work has just begun.
Davis: It's an awesome responsibility. I made an argument that I would do a better job and now I have to back that up.
And while you might think there would be an overwhelming feeling of relief after months of campaigning, Davis says she is raring to get to work. She calls her new responsibilities "humbling," but at the same time, remarkable.
