Dallas, TX – Energy giant Exxon Mobil, headquartered in Irving, set a new corporate earnings record in the third quarter of nearly $15 billion. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more.

A third quarter net income of $14.8 billion broke Exxon Mobil's previous record set last quarter. After one-time expenses, a share earned $2.59. Summer time record-setting crude oil prices contributed to Exxon Mobil's all time high profits. Despite the recent drop in crude prices, the company says it's maintained a strong financial position. Exxon Mobil also took hits from gulf hurricanes Gustav and Ike and says storm clean up will cost it $500 million in the fourth quarter.
