Dallas, TX – Fort Worth City Councilmember Chuck Silcox will be remembered in services Tuesday. KERA's BJ Austin says the longest-serving councilmember died of cancer over the weekend.

Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief says everyone knew Chuck Silcox not just the folks in his District. The Mayor says Silcox was a bulldog when it came to protecting the taxpayers' pocketbook, and always spoke his mind.

Moncrief: You never had to worry about where Chuck stood and knowing how he felt about something. He was quick to let you know. He was also very helpful to the council when it came to talking about historic perspective.

Chuck Silcox served on the Fort Worth City Council for 17 years.
