Dallas, TX –

His first bout of notoriety came as "Freckle King of the 1936 Texas State Fair." Harold Barefoot Sanders, Jr. was uncomfortable with that title, but the ones that followed were impressive: Naval Reserve lieutenant, lawyer, state legislator, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Assistant Attorney General during the Johnson administration and legislative counsel to L.B.J. Sanders perhaps is best known for his 27 years as a U.S. District Judge. In the conclusion of a two-part interview with 90.1's Sam Baker from 2006, Judge Sanders reflects on his life and career, including the question he's had to answer many times: Yes, Barefoot is his real middle name.
