Dallas, TX – Charles Tandy, Fort Worth businessman and philanthropist, stands in Paddock Park, just north of the Tarrant County Courthouse. Melissa Dailey, with Downtown Fort Worth Inc., says the statue is on an island surrounded by downtown traffic zooming by, and no one able to stop and appreciate.

Dailey: They can't really experience it or read the inscription or anything like that. The recommendation was simply to find a place. I don't think we necessarily contemplated it leaving downtown, but that's the way it worked out - Just a place that would be more pedestrian oriented.

Dailey says the Downtown Public Art Master Plan is recommending the statue be moved to the TCU Campus in front of Tandy Hall. TCU would take up maintenance and conservation. The city would retain ownership.

The Fort Worth Art Commission discusses the move tonight. The Fort Worth City Council must ultimately approve.
