Dallas, TX – The Fort Worth Library is getting an image makeover designed to elevate its profile in the community as a place to go for education, research, and fun.
Dennis: There are so many things you can get for FREE at your Library. Why go out and pay for a DVD, come to the library. It's the same things for CD's. We've got internet computers here. We've got downloadable audio books. And we still do all of the good, old children's story time, from your youth.
The Library's Chris Dennis says part of the makeover is a nip-tuck on the NAME. It's no longer the Fort Worth PUBLIC Library. It's just the Fort Worth Library. He says for many public denotes institutional and restrictive but he says that's not the case at all anymore at the library.
President of the American Library Association, Dr. Loreen Roy, says libraries across the country are re-inventing themselves with new, helpful services in the digital age.
Roy: Anyone can find something now. The question is not where can I find one item or any item on this topic. How do I deal with the five million hits I've received on a Google search? How do I evaluate those?
Dr. Roy says ask your librarian!
