Violent Crime Reduction Plan

Average monthly violent crime incidents went down between 2021 and this past April, but murders were up 7.2% and aggravated assaults were up 2.9%.

Dallas public safety officials say the crime reduction is more significant than other years.

Apartment complexes are the number one location for murders and robberies in Dallas. and the Dallas Police Department hopes to change that.

The Dallas Police Department wants to avoid a repeat of what happened in Deep Ellum last summer. Several violent incidents were reported, including a shooting, a stabbing and a collision that critically injured a pedestrian.

The program is designed to be a long-term investment in reducing violent crime. It centers around community members serving their neighborhoods by building trusted relationships and defusing tensions.

At the governor's request, the Texas Department of Public Safety is sending resources, including special agents, state troopers, other personnel, and some helicopters and planes.
