In NHL hockey, the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs continues Wednesday night in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. The Dallas Stars play long-time rival St. Louis in game 4 of the best-of-seven series.
Dallas Stars playoff games have been packed, loud and intense. For just the third time in ten years, the team’s in the Stanley Cup playoffs. As a wildcard, the underdog Stars have already beaten top seed Nashville in the first round.
Now in the second round, Dallas trails the St. Louis Blues two games to one.
Stars coach Jim Montgomery told reporters his team needs to play tougher Wednesday night than it did Monday against the Blues.
“First minute of the game, they scored on us,” Montgomery said. "Then [they scored] the last two minutes of the game. And that’s them playing to their strengths and us not executing, taking away time and space defensively.”
Montgomery says it’s now time for the Stars to play more desperate hockey. He says they’ve played well, but not good enough.
“You’re always looking how do we get better and what do we learn, from either denying them or getting better offensively,” Montgomery said.
Odds favor the first team that gets three wins. That’s what the Stars did in the first round of the playoffs.
Wednesday night, they hope to even the series. The game starts at 8:30 p.m.
