Sierra Juarez is covering the 86th legislative session for public radio stations throughout Texas. Previously, she’s interned for The Texas Tribune, the Austin American-Statesman, the San Antonio Current and KUT. She’s also participated in NPR’s Next Generation Radio program. Sierra will graduate in May 2019 with a journalism degree and a certificate in Latino Media Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.

Ortiz was a print and online news editor at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and the San Antonio Express-News from 1999 to 2010.

Sangita Menon is a general assignment reporter for KUT. Before switching over to journalism in 2017, she was a circuit designer for a high-tech company in Austin. She has a degree in electrical engineering and computer science from UCLA. Sangita was born in India, grew up in California, lived in Oregon and finally made her way to Texas in 2007. She lives in Austin with her husband and two daughters.

Jerrod Knight graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce in May of 2005, ready to take on numerous roles at prominent radio organizations, which have included Susquehanna-Pfaltzgraff (now Cumulus,) Omni Communications Corporation, and The Ranch Radio Network. With experience on-the-air, and in every position behind-the-scenes, Knight rejoined KETR in December 2008 as director of programming.

Bri Kirkham comes to San Antonio after living most of her life in southern Indiana. She graduated from Ball State University with degrees in journalism and telecommunications.

Jerry Quijano is a producer and host. A native south Texan, he joined the KUT staff after graduating from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Jerry was part of NPR’s Next Generation initiative at KUT in 2017. When he’s not in the studio, Jerry enjoys collecting vinyl records.
