Actor and writer RAY SHELL
Actor and writer RAY SHELL. He has just written his first novel, "Iced," (Harper Collins) about a talented and ambitious man who is also addicted to crack. SHELL has appeared in many shows in England, including "Miss Saigon," "Starlight Express," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "Hair." He is also a songwriter, and has written music for singer Kate Bush.
Glacier Girl
This weekend, a World War II fighter plane took to the skies for the first time in more than 50 years. Until a few years ago, the plane, named Glacier Girl, was buried under more than 200 feet of snow and ice in Greenland, where it crash-landed during the war. John talks with Roy Shoffner, a businessman who played a key role in the recovery and restoration efforts. (3:45)

Carolinas Still Frozen by Winter Blast
More than 20 deaths are blamed on a massive winter storm that has left a dozen states coated in snow and ice. The Carolinas are suffering the most. More than 1 million people are without power during one of the coldest periods of the year. NPR's Adam Hochberg reports.

First-time novelist Christian Bauman
His book The Ice Beneath You is based on his experiences as a young army private in Somalia in 1993, and his difficult return to civilian life. Hubert Selby Jr., the author of Last Exit to Brooklyn, said of Bauman's novel, "Beautifully crafted, structured, and simple... It is a pleasure to read the work of a real writer." Bauman is also a folksinger and songwriter with a CD, Roaddogs, Assasins & The Queen Of Ohio.

New CEO of Ben & Jerry's
Jeannie Baron reports from Montpelier, Vermont on the new CEO who will oversee Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. The company was bought out by Unilever earlier this year. The European conglomerate promised to maintain the smaller company's commitment to social activism, but the appointment of Yves Couette has raised enough doubt for Ben & Jerry's founders, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, that the two may leave the company.

Clowes' new book is called Ice Haven. It's the story of a small Midwestern town populated by characters including poet laureate Random Wilder, Julie Patheticstein and Blue Bunny. Ultimately, it's based on the story of Leopold and Loeb.
