Top Stories: Social And Emotional Learning; State Fair Food Semifinalists

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

The Dallas school district and the education nonprofit Big Thought will receive a four-year grant as part of a program to teach kids social and emotional learning skills.

Dallas is one of six U.S. cities taking part in this initiative, which will be in seven pilot schools this fall.

The Wallace Foundation awarded the grant and plans to give as much as $1.5 million dollars to Dallas ISD and Big Thought in the program's first year.
