The rain this February didn’t quit until it made the top of the charts.

With Wednesday’s additional 4.75 inches, 2018 became the wettest February in North Texas on record, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. The 11.31 inches of rainfall last month broke the previous record of 7.40 inches in February 1997.

And for all winter months (December through February), North Texas tied the wettest winter at 16.72 inches of rain, which also fell in 1931-32.

For some perspective, an average of 2.66 inches of rain is normal for North Texas in the second month of the year. More than four times that amount of rain fell in the last 28 days.

We’re getting closer to spring, so showers are to be expected. The region’s going to dry out until the weekend. There’s a chance of rain Saturday through Monday. Here’s the latest forecast.
