Cold Front Brings Winter Weather To Panhandle, Rain Chances To North Texas

Amarillo's National Weather Service reported thundersnow at their office Thursday afternoon, with 37 mph winds. Radar images showed snow bands almost covering the entire Panhandle.

They say snow accumulations of 1-2 inches are possible.

Area residents are encouraged to avoid driving under the weather conditions.

As for North Texas, the weather service is saying the cold front will keep moving through this afternoon and evening. As it does, chances for rain and storms increase while temperatures drop. Threats include locally heavy rain and a few possible strong storms.

The low Thursday night for North Texas will be around 48, with high temperatures Friday nearing 51.

Showers continue Friday with possible thunderstorms before midday, then with a 60% chance of showers for the rest of the day.
