This evening's rush hour could have been a lot worse.
The High Five interchange in northern Dallas — U.S. Highway 75 and Interstate 635 — was shut down for most of the day Thursday after a tanker truck rolled on its side and spilled hazardous materials.
It took hours for crews to clean up the mess. As of 3 p.m. all lanes of 75 and 635 were reopened, save for the ramp from southbound 75 to eastbound 635, where the accident occurred around 4:15 this morning.
Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans says the truck carrying a resin used to produce plastic struck a wall on the ramp and overturned. No injuries were reported.
Evans said firefighters sprayed water on the tanker as a precaution to keep it cool until a contractor could unload the fuel.
Thursday's closure caused traffic to back up for miles. Police officers and state troopers were working to relieve congestion.
