The top stories this afternoon from KERA News: Even with insurance, storm-related expenses can pile up fast. Rowlett resident Lindsay Diaz knows that firsthand, the duplex she owned was blown apart. One big problem for her? Being underinsured. 

March Madness is one of the biggest moneymakers in college sports, yet that cash won’t be making it into the players’ pockets. Today on Think, "New York Times" sports-business columnist Joe talked about how he would compensate college athletes.

  • An off-duty police officer who shot and killed a teenager and wounded another fired his weapon because he feared for his life. Attorney Chris Livingston did not provide specifics about the Sunday incident and what prompted Farmers Branch police officer Ken Johnson to shoot. 
  • The National Weather Service says the flooding is among the worst in 100 years. Part of the Sabine River was forecast to crest to more than 33 feet. The river in that area begins to flood at 24 feet.
