The top stories this afternoon from KERA News: President Barack Obama kicked off this year’s edition of SXSW last Friday with a conversation about technology. Since then, Austin’s played host to dozens of panels and presentations by tech insiders, and hundreds of movie screenings at the film conference.

March Madness is underway and five Texas teams have advanced to the NCAA Tournament. One team that wasn’t on the list? TCU. The school may be a football powerhouse, but when it comes to basketball the Horned Frogs have been lousy. On Monday, they fired their head coach Trent Johnson.

Other stories this afternoon:

  • More than 60 Texas water systems have high amounts of arsenic in the drinking water – levels so high they exceed federal standards. The Environmental Integrity Project says the high levels affect 82,000 people across Texas, and about 50,000 of them have been exposed to contaminated water for at least a decade.
