Texas Congressman Whose Move To Impeach Trump Failed Says 'It Won't Be The Last' Effort

U.S. Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, called for the impeachment of President Trump on Wednesday on the House floor.

Five stories that have North Texas talking: Al Green’s impeachment vote failed; Melania got Whataburger; Texans apparently prefer Pez this time of year; and more.

Members of the U.S. House on Wednesday overwhelmingly voted against Texan Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump.

Most of Rep. Green’s fellow Democrats joined House Republicans in opposing the move. After his resolution was read aloud, the House voted 364-58 to table it, The Associated Press reports.

Watch him introduce his resolution:

In all, 126 Democrats joined Republicans in voting to table Green's effort in the GOP-led House, according to AP.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said that while "legitimate questions have been raised about his fitness to lead this nation," they argued "now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment."

Several Democratic lawmakers said they agreed that it's too soon to act before special counsel Robert Mueller's team completes its investigation into Russian election interference.
