Dallas, TX – The Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee says state transportation officials initially refused to tell him which Texas bridges have deficiencies when he requested the information. Senator John Carona of Dallas said he needed to know so he could make sure lawmakers provide money for repairs. KERA's Shelley Kofler has more on how a tense relationship will need to improve if fixing bridges and roadways is a priority.

(Senator Carona also proposed a state constitutional amendment to restrict the use of gas tax revenue, and an increase in the gas tax, as ways to pay for transportation needs.)
