The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom:

One of the state’s oldest residential treatment centers for people with mental illness could lose its federal funding. Timberlawn Mental Health System in Dallas, a Pennsylvania-based chain that’s been operating here since 1917, is in trouble with regulators for violating patient safety.

The Trinity Railway Express, TRE for short, is warning commuters to plan for extra travel time. Intense heat can warp the train tracks, so they’re running a little slower right now.

The slowdown could add 10 minutes to your ride.

You can listen to the top local news stories weekdays at 6:20 p.m. and 8:20 a.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
