The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom:

Before paging through Huck Finn, A Farewell to Arms and The Scarlet Letter at Highland Park High School, several 11th graders handed their parents a permission slip.

And national conference on race started Thursday in Dallas, and with it came a new poll and some optimism on race relations in North Texas.
