Perry for President — Again?

KERA News
Governor Perry was the keynote speaker at a luncheon in Las Colinas benefiting the United Negro College Fund.

Five stories that have North Texas talking: Triumph of the "Overly Attached Girlfriend," Powerball potential, a burlesque Nutcracker and more.

Gov. Rick Perry isn’t ruling out another bid for the White House. When asked Wednesday whether he planned to run again for governor or president, here’s what Perry had to say:

“I’m going to make that decision sometime this summer, June, July timeframe, it’s… you know, there’s not a big rush,” he said.

He made these comments in Las Colinas after delivering the keynote speech at a luncheon for the United Negro College Fund.

Dallas Ticket Came Really Close To Winning Powerball

It’s more likely a vending machine will kill you, but two ticketholders managed to win the half-billion-dollar-plus Powerball jackpot last night. They weren’t in Texas, but four tickets in our state matched all numbers -- 5, 16, 23, 23, 29 -- but not the final "Powerball" number of 6.

Sure, it's brutal to miss out on a nearly $300 million payout. But don't shed too many tears: Those four tickets each will collect $1 million. And one of them was sold at the 7-Eleven at Inwood Road and Lovers Lane, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Overly Attached Girlfriend Is Just A Giver, OK

A 21-year-old woman from Keller donated more than $22,000 to Surf Camp, a small Denton-based nonprofit that serves autistic kids. So how did she get the cash?

Well, this is the "Overly Attached Girlfriend" -- identified only by the name Laina -- who's become a viral sensation. She took Justin Beiber up on his suspicious proposition in the song “If I Was Your Boyfriend” with a horrifying, unblinking stare -- oh yes I will be your girlfriend, all right -- that might send the baby-faced pop star shivering back to his bus. She posted her parody on YouTube as the “Overly Attached Girlfriend” and it went viral, with 13 million-plus YouTube views, as did its successors -- like this gem, where she stares at her imagined target for 10 hours:

Sometimes all that work is totally worth it, frighteningly devoted ladies. WFAA’s Jason Whitely has the story of how she cashed in.

Twinkies Brand Gets Fingers On Bidders

Irving-based Hostess apparently has more than 80 interested buyers.

CEO Gregory Rayborn tells the Dallas Morning News:

I can’t answer details about bidders and [the] bid process, but I can tell you that we now have over 80 parties signed up to confidentiality agreements and the vast majority are capable and serious bidders.

This comes after Hostess failed to work out a deal with its unions last week. A buyout could mean survival for the Twinkie and its snack brethren.

‘Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker’ A Definite Alternative To Baryshnikov

Ah, visions of Sugarplums dancing in your head... Well, some heads have some pretty out-there visions -- and they're shimmying onto the stage at Stone Cottage Theatre in Addison. The Beaulaville Baptist Book Club Presents: A Bur-Less-Q Nutcrackerfinds the Velvet Kittens Burlesque Dancers displaced as unlikely understudies for the show.

No nudity or stripping, but there is suggestive dancing -- not the interpretive kind, obviously. Preview it here.
