Marie Antoinette's Slippers Sell At Auction
Back in the 1700s, the resentful subjects of France's Marie Antoinette gave her the nickname: "Madame Deficit." The Queen's extravagant lifestyle ended at the guillotine. But she left behind some treasures — including a delicate pair of green and pink silk striped slippers. On the anniversary of her execution this week, they were sold by a Parisian auction house for more than $65,000.

'Morning Edition' Returns: Billboard Deal Reached
An activist group has defused a controversy over a billboard protesting the Iraq war. Project Billboard had intended to put up in New York's Times Square a picture of a bomb decorated with stars and stripes reading "Democracy is best taught by example, not war." Clear Channel, which rented the space to the group, objected. The group has now agreed to change the bomb to a dove, plus a ticker tape showing the cost of the war.
