A strong cold front will move through North Texas today with temperatures continuing to fall through the late evening hours. Areas of rain are expected to develop overnight with a brief transition to snow expected in some areas by early Tuesday morning.

North Texas will be getting a dose of winter starting today — and that even means a chance of snow.

After highs today around 70, the National Weather Service is saying a cold front moving into the area will drop the temperatures by 10 degrees in a matter of minutes for the Dallas-Fort Worth area between 1 and 3 p.m. Temperatures will continue to fall, ultimately landing in the 30s overnight.

More than that, the service is calling for rain and snow mix for the area Tuesday morning. Little to no accumulation is expected, except for a few localized spots. Travel should not be interrupted, either.

More pleasant weather will round out the week, with a slow warmup expected by this weekend.
