Associated Press
Emmett, seen here in 2006 playing for the Seattle Supersonics, was killed outside his Dallas home Monday morning.

Andre Emmett, former NBA player and Texas Tech standout, was killed early Monday morning in front of his Dallas home, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Emmett was sitting in his vehicle in front of his home at about 2:30 a.m. when he was approached by two men with a handgun, according to a police statement. Emmett was shot as he ran away from the men; a passerby found him and called 911.

Police say Dallas Fire and Rescue transported him to an area hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses report seeing the two male suspects enter a white Chrysler 300 and then fleeing the scene.

Anyone with information should contact Dallas Police at 214-671-3647.
