The El Paso Democrat's still-developing immigration plan calls for a new visa category and more.
Speaking during a roundtable with local immigration leaders at Casa Komali restaurant in Dallas, Beto O'Rourke touted his plan as non-partisan — and fearless.
"When we remove fear, they tell us, from communities of immigrants, they're more likely to report crimes, testify in trials, serve as witnesses, in other words, work towards making our communities even safer than they already are," he said. "I think we build on that by bringing people out of the shadows."
O'Rourke's plan would also end President Trump's immigration policies, including family separations at the border.
The former congressman is the second Democratic presidential candidate to visit Dallas this week, following a visit from former Vice President Joe Biden Wednesday.
