The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Despite last ditch protests and shouting from anti-Donald Trump forces, the Republican National Convention opened today approved the rules of this year's convention.

Other stories this morning:

  • In speech after speech, Trump talks about building a border wall and making Mexico pay for it. A news poll suggests that the closer you get to the border, the less folks like that idea.
  • The Dallas Summer Musicals announced it had resolved its disputes with Michael Jenkins, the longtime president who was fired in May. Jenkins, who’s 74, had filed an age-discrimination lawsuit.

  • Texans must be natural fighters, because all four members of the Olympic taekwondo team were either born or raised in the Lone Star State. Youngest member Jackie Galloway goes to SMU, trains in Garland and lives in Wylie.
