Dallas County Continues Aerial Spraying Tonight
Tonight, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Dallas County will continue aerial spraying for mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus. Specially-equipped, twin-engine aircraft sprayed about 88,000 acres in Dallas County on Friday night but stormy weather forced that mission to end early. Weather also prohibited aerial spraying of the pyrethroid insecticide Saturday night. Dallas County and the City of Dallas hope four planes will be able to complete the remaining 222,000 acres and the first round of spraying tonight.
All or portions of the cities included in Sunday’s spraying are Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Garland, Grand Prairie, Mesquite and Richardson.
A second round of aerial treatment is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday nights to kill the larvae that hatch following the first application.
