It’s the first day of school for kids across North Texas. No more sleeping in! We’re posting your back-to-school photos below.

We’d like you to share your kids’ first day of school photos - or send us your own photos from back in the day.

Post them to the KERA Facebook page or email them to engage@kera.org. And you can see some retro school photos from KERA hosts, reporters and producers, too.

About 160,000 kids are heading back to school in Dallas ISD. The district has an interim superintendent, Michael Hinojosa. He's leading the district as trustees look for a replacement for Mike Miles, who resigned over the summer.

In Fort Worth, Kent Scribner is the lone superintendent finalist after the district's year-long search. Scribner oversaw 16 high schools and more than 27,000 students in Phoenix. In Fort Worth, he’ll run a district with more than three times as many students.

Naturally, students have some first-day jitters. School administrators and teachers say they’re eager to start the new school year. Theresa Morgan has been a teacher for 25 years. She’s a mathematics instructional coach at Sunset High School in Dallas Independent School District. “I’m thinking of all this preparation and got a classroom and supplies and plans and everything ready to go,” Morgan told KERA's Stella Chavez. “And now I’m remembering we all do this for the kids and we can help their lives be better and touch someone’s life in ways we really have no idea how.”

The first day of school is also a big deal for students training to become teachers.
