Ron Price, when he was ending his service on the Dallas school board. More recently, he was named Superintendent of Prime Prep Academy. This week, he said he would step down. Now, the TEA says it'll step in to manage the charter.

The Texas Education Commissioner said late this afternoon he will appoint a board of managers to oversee leadership at Prime Prep Academy, a charter held by Uplift Fort Worth.   Commissioner Michael Williams said that Prime Prep’s “recent deterioration” of the its financial situation compelled his action.

This week, the school’s superintendent, Ron Price, said he’ll step down at the end of the month because of dwindling funds.

The school, initially founded in part by Dallas Cowboy’s star Deion Sanders, has been warned about its pending charter revocation for violating the state’s child nutrition rules.

Prime Prep has until Friday to request a review about the appointment of the managers.

The school’s final charter revocation hearing is set for January 27, 2015.
