Up To 50,000 Attend Dallas School Fair

The annual Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair greeted 40,000 to 50,000 people at Fair Park today.

One of the organizers, Vicki Wait, was there all day and says the fair helped qualified, low-income families get ready for school.

“…with their arms full of school supplies and lots of free items they’ve gotten during the day - backpacks, a lot of them have gotten their eyes checked, their teeth checked, and we’ve done lots of screenings, health screenings..”

Wait says those health screenings and vaccinations alone can help save families hundreds of dollars. Medical teams treated at least ten people because of the heat. One was taken to the hospital, but officials say everyone recovered.
