Austin's South by Southwest has recently grown into more than ground zero for music, art and film. It’s also become a launching pad for the latest digital developments, and education has moved to the head of the high-tech class.

KERA's Lauren Silverman is in Austin for SXSWedu, and reports on Bill Gates’ keynote speech today.

Anya Kamenetz of the Hechinger Report is also on the ground there, and she charts out the five most important education tech trends she's seeing.

Here in Dallas, tech will come up tonight when Krys Boyd, host of KERA's daily call-in show Think, chats with a group of local students about the challenges and expectations they face at school. The live event starts at 7 p.m. at KERA, 3000 Harry Hines Blvd.

Bill Zeeble has been a full-time reporter at KERA since 1992, covering everything from medicine to the Mavericks and education to environmental issues.
