The North Texas region has been experiencing rapid population growth. According to Dallas Area Rapid Transit, the region will see nearly 4 million new residents and roughly 2.2 million jobs by 2045.

With that in mind, DART is updating its previous long-range plan to meet the potential transportation needs for this growing new generation. It’s called the Draft 2045 Transit System Plan.

It addresses three main areas: where transit system is today, itsvision for the future and how DART plans to get there.

The 2045 Plan also will consider how to make the system more accessible, reliable and sustainable for the next 20 years. DART is hosting two virtual meetingsfor the public.

The first one is on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 12 to 1 p.m., and the second public meeting is on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The meetings will be recorded for anyone unable to attend.
