This month marks the 25th anniversary of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center's grand opening in the Dallas Arts District. To celebrate, author Laurie Shulman and Art&Seek reporter Jerome Weeks join Think at 1 p.m. to talk about the inception of the project and the construction of the building.
Shulman has written The Meyerson Symphony Center: Building a Dream, a look into the process of creating a “great concert hall for a great city.”
For the milestone birthday, KERA’s Art&Seek team put together an interactive web feature called “Secrets Of The Meyerson” where you can explore 25 years of history through a series of radio stories, timeline, tour, performances and interviews with key figures from that time. Starting September 6, the Dallas Symphony commemorates with a week of events crowned by the DSO’s annual gala on September 13. This year’s affair features renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman and will simulcast at Klyde Warren Park beginning at 8:45 p.m. Check the Art&Seek calendar for more information.
