Dallas, TX – Bill Zeeble: The one and a half billion dollar FutureGen project will be built in Mattoon Illinois. Proposed Texas sites in Jewett and Odessa narrowly missing out. The plant will test and use advanced, near-zero emissions technology in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. After Texas congratulated Illinois, state Railroad Commission Chair Mike Williams vowed to bring a clean, future-gen like project to Texas as soon as possible.
Spokesperson Krista Piferrer is in Governor Perry's office.
Krista Piferrer: It is a disappointment that we're not going to be home to futureGen but certainly clean coal and natural resources that Texas has to leverage other projects is still on our agenda.
