Dallas, TX – The Dallas Historical Society's Executive Director Michael Duty says items range from early photographs of Dallas to Santa Anna's brass dress spurs recovered after the 1836 battle of San Jacinto, later given by Sam Houston to a friend. A Santa Anna paper weight, also recovered after the battle, disappeared from the collection. Maybe they were taken by mistake, says Duty, after a film crew used the Historical Society's space. Maybe they've been stolen by an onlooker. Duty does not know.

Duty: The best way to describe our feelings is heart sick. These treasures belong to everyone in Dallas and Texas. We're the stewards of them. We want to do all we can to make sure they're returned. It's a devastating loss

Duty says there are 21 items in all that were in a white box, now missing. Dallas police are investigating. There's a 10 thousand dollar reward and anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at 1-877 373 TIPS. Bill Zeeble KERA news
