Dallas, TX – Homeless advocates today announced $3.5 million in private donations to be used for the completion and operation of the Dallas Homeless Assistance Center.
Michael Faenza, president of the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance says the center will serve those who are chronically homeless.
Faenza:
[We are really resourced to reach out to the people who do not usually get services - people who are chronically homeless, who are disabled, who have serious mental illness, addictive disorders, physical disabilities, who don't participate in shelters - and nobody is able to serve them well.]
The donations come from the Meadows Foundation, the Rees-Jones Foundation, the Mike and Mary Terry Foundation, and Pam and Gary Patsley.
The Homeless Alliance hopes to raise $20 million in five years for the center and homeless services. Other money would come from the City of Dallas and Dallas County.
