Dallas, TX –
Host: North Texas will see the nation's biggest increase in new construction of high-performance homes over the next 12 months, as KERA's Catherine Cuellar explains.
Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas member MHI announced today it will construct at least 800 new homes over the next year that meet "Green Built" environmental standards for energy efficiency, water conservation, and indoor air quality. T.W. Bailey is local president of the HBA, which developed the "Green Built North Texas" guidelines.
T.W. Bailey: Today, we can build a home under these green built guidelines and we can save utility costs that will more than offset the additional cost of the structure.
Cuellar: The new homes will be sold for 110 thousand to half a million dollars.
