Dallas, TX –
The International Women's Peace conference has attracted Nobel Prize winners, elected officials, philosophers and organizers from 43 countries and 34 US States. In Dallas, they'll spend six days brainstorming strategies to improve human rights, eliminate genocide and treat the psychological effects of terrorism.
Conference Chair Carol Crabtree Donovan says the goal is to empower participants and help them create action plans they can implement in their own countries.
Sound: This conference is going to be a call to action especially since there is so much emphasis on the various workshops focused on issues like exploitation, discrimination the environment and many other issues related to peace.
The war in Iraq is not the focus of the conference, but Donovan believes the struggle for peace there will a hot topic of debate.
Organizers say they're hosting a women's peace conference to ensure women are better represented in planning efforts around the globe. Men are also involved and events are open to the public.
