Texas lawmakers in the recently-ended legislative session voted to switch out the controversial TAKS test with end-of-course exams. Plano state senator Florence Shapiro led the push for the change - which won't be immediate. She said it'll be phased in beginning with freshmen in 2011 and much to do in the interim.
