Dallas, TX – Bill Zeeble: With little fanfare, the council rapidly passed 2 resolutions to compete for the NFL's biggest game 4 years from now, Super Bowl 45. It would be played in the new Cowboy's stadium, now being built in Arlington. Last week, some council members, including Steve Salazar threatened to pull back if Dallas didn't get the biggest benefit from any bid. Wednesday , he said he was just being cautious.

Steve Salazar, Dallas City Council Member: When you're given anything in writing that says we're committed to doing these things in Dallas , if it's not in writing, that means it's not enforceable. I'm pleased we're moving forward with it. it's good we all come together with the region to say we want the Super Bowl here.

Zeeble: Former Cowboys star Roger Staubach chairs the local bid committee, and said he understood last week's council concerns. Especially after losing the Cotton Bowl college game and the new Cowboys stadium to Arlington.

Roger Staubach: There's a lot of emotion that's taken place. But as a Navy guy, the ship has sailed and we're looking to future. That's what this council said.

Zeeble: Without being too specific, Dallas expects at least one of 4 big, NFL sponsored events, likely in Fair Park, if it wins Super Bowl 45. It also figures to fill its 22 thousand hotel rooms. The area's official hotel sponsors include the Hyatt, Anatole, Adams Mark, and Gaylord Texan. The NFL announces its choic e May 23rd. for KERA 90.1 I'm Bill Zeeble
