Dallas, TX – The Press Club of Dallas recognized KERA's news and public affairs staff at the 48th Annual Katie Awards on Saturday, November 19, 2006.
The top honor, the J.B. "Buck" Marryat Memorial Award, was given posthumously to Glenn Mitchell for career excellence.
The winners of the Katie Award include Marla Crockett, Bill Zeeble and Catherine Cuellar for Best Radio Series: "Texas Schools: Where Does the Money Go?"
Also, Rick Thompson, Yolette Garcia and Christine McConnell won for Best Television Talk Show: "Richard Avedon: In The American West -- A 20th Anniversary Special."
On October 21, 2006, The Lone Star Emmys honored Sujata Dand, Linda Stogner and Stewart Meyer for "High School: The Best and the Rest" in the Public/Current/Community Affairs - Program/Special category. Winning also in the Interview/Discussion - Program/Special category were Rick Thompson, Yolette Garcia and Gila Espinoza.
