Dallas, TX – In the 1990s, Deep Ellum near downtown Dallas was a thriving destination for everything from dining and shopping to concerts and tattoos. But it's been in a slump. At a town hall meeting in the Gypsy Tea Room ballroom, the crowd rivaled the number of customers at most clubs and restaurants on a weeknight. More than 200 concerned business owners and residents discussed ideas for revitalization with city officials, including Mayor Laura Miller and Police Chief David Kunkle. KERA reporter Catherine Cuellar discusses what happened with news director Marla Crockett.
