Dallas, TX –
As part of our Voters Voice 2006 coverage, KERA has been presenting interviews and campaign speeches with candidates running in the gubernatorial primaries. Democrat Bob Gammage is an attorney in Arlington attorney who served in the state legislature and Congress before retiring from public service as a Texas Supreme Court justice in 19-95. He's running against former congressman Chris Bell and businessman Rashad Jafer as the Legislature struggles to reform the school finance system. Gammage told 90.1's Sam Baker he wants to lower the tax burden on homeowners and get the state to pay more of the cost for education.
